Richard D. Reid, also known as Abdul H. Shabazz and Hakeem A. Shabazz, was convicted in the District of Delaware in 2007 of multiple federal offenses including five counts of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense under 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(1), possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine under 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(A), possession with intent to distribute cocaine under 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(C), and possession of crack cocaine and marijuana under 21 U.S.C. § 844. Reid was sentenced to 300 months imprisonment followed by 120 months of supervised release. On August 3, 2016, President Barack Obama granted Reid a commutation that reduced his sentence. The commutation did not include a pardon and left supervised release intact at the originally imposed length.
